Madeleine Vionnet otherwise known as Queen of the bias cut was popularly known for the fit of her grecian style garments that moved when the wearer moved and clung delicately to the wearers frame.
This might explain why she said "when a woman smiles, her dress should smile too". The drapery and fluidity of her creations embraced a woman's curves with out any restrictions.
They did not have the assuming allure that dresses have when corsets and bodices have been placed in them. they where simple architectural designs that sometimes came with an ingenious splatter of embellishment.
Her sole interest was to make clothes that will last a life time, and History has shown that she did.
